Convert Bank Statements to CSV

The same conversion as the Excel download, in a plain-text .csv instead: one flat table with Date, Description, Amount and Balance, amounts as numbers and dates in ISO format. Choose CSV when the file is going straight into Google Sheets, another spreadsheet, or an accounting import — anywhere a .xlsx would just be opened and re-saved as CSV anyway.

At a glance

PDF Probe converts bank statements (PDF) into a clean .csv with Date, Description, Amount and Balance columns — the same data as the Excel download, as one flat table. The first 10 pages are free with no sign-up, and your file is deleted within 1 hour.

CSV or Excel — what's the difference?

The .csv contains exactly the same transactions as the .xlsx Transactions sheet: Date, Description, Amount and Balance, one row per transaction, amounts as numbers and dates in yyyy-mm-dd format. Multi-page statements are merged into one table in page order.

The difference is what you don't get: the .xlsx also has a Summary sheet with the beginning balance, printed and computed ending balances, and the reconciliation difference. In CSV form the reconciliation is shown on screen in the preview instead — check it there before you download.

Pick CSV when the file goes straight into Google Sheets, Excel, or an accounting import. Pick Excel when you want the Summary sheet kept with the data.

The CSV is built from the same extraction as the Excel download, so the same test run applies: 20 synthetic statements from Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Amex (211 transactions), every cell correct and all 20 reconciled. Real files vary — check the preview first.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload

Drop your PDF into the converter — digital tables directly, scanned pages via on-device OCR.

  2. 2

    Preview

Check the extracted table first. Low-confidence cells are highlighted red, and balances are reconciled up front.

  3. 3

    Download

Confirm, then get a clean .xlsx (Transactions + Summary sheets) or .csv — amounts are numbers, dates are real dates.

Frequently asked questions

Is the CSV the same data as the Excel file?

Yes — the same transactions, same columns, same numbers and dates. The only difference is that the Excel file also carries a Summary sheet with the balances and reconciliation; in CSV the reconciliation is shown in the preview instead.

Can I open a CSV in Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Both open .csv directly, and the dates (yyyy-mm-dd) and amounts are plain values, so sorting and summing work immediately.

Which banks does it work with?

Any bank statement with a standard transaction table — Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Amex and others. It reads the table structure, not a per-bank template.

What if the balances don't reconcile?

The preview shows the exact difference before you download. A mismatch usually means a row was misread — check the red-highlighted low-confidence cells first.

Do you store my statement?

No. Files are deleted automatically within 1 hour, the upload folder is excluded from all backups, and nobody reviews your files.
