App Store Screenshot Sizes

By Clioos 团队

App Store Connect rejects screenshots that are even a few pixels off, so the size table below lists exact pixels — and it lists only the four sizes the Clioos screenshot tool actually exports. The 6.9-inch size is free with unlimited exports; the other three are locked behind a paid pack that is not on sale yet. If you need a size this tool does not export, this page does not invent one for it.

At a glance

Steps

  1. Open the App Store screenshot maker — free, no account, nothing leaves your device.
  2. Upload one app screenshot (or try the sample image), pick a template — Gradient, Solid or Device frame — and write the headline and subtitle.
  3. Choose the size. 6.9-inch (1320 x 2868) exports free with no limit beyond the 100-per-IP-per-day fair-use cap; the other three sizes show as Locked.
  4. Click Export PNG and check the downloaded file's dimensions before uploading to App Store Connect. For a locked size, join the waitlist instead — no payment is taken now.

Size table (the tool's export sizes, from its live page)

Every size below was read from the live tool page at clioos.com/app-screenshots/ (page source, 2 November 2026), including its size buttons and its embedded size data. No size the tool does not offer is listed here.

Format on the tool page: PNG, RGB, no transparency. Templates: 3 (Gradient, Solid, Device frame). Languages: 4 (English, Chinese, Japanese, German). Free-tier fair use: 100 exports per IP per day. The tool page also states a successful export records one anonymous count (size, template, language, IP) and nothing else.

Worked example (local resize run, 2 November 2026 — not a tool export)

I did not run this example through the browser tool, so no number below is a tool export. Instead I resized one sample image locally with Python PIL (LANCZOS) to each of the four table sizes and verified every output by reopening it. ImageMagick was not installed on this machine (no convert or magick binary), so PIL was the toolchain. Source: a synthetic 1170 x 2532 gradient PNG, 31,051 bytes.

Target sizeVerified outputPNG bytes
6.9-inch1320 x 2868, RGB68,616
6.5-inch1284 x 2778, RGB66,574
5.5-inch1242 x 2208, RGB57,223
iPad 13-inch2064 x 2752, RGB89,127

All four outputs measured exactly at the table dimensions. Byte counts belong to this synthetic gradient sample only — a real app screenshot with text and photos will compress differently, so never judge a file by its byte count. What transfers to real work is the discipline: resize to the exact pixels, then reopen the file and confirm the dimensions before uploading to App Store Connect, because a file a few pixels off is rejected rather than scaled.

Tool sizes vs. Apple's current specs — read this before you ship

The table above is the tool's export list, and it stays the authority for what the tool produces — this guide does not add sizes the tool cannot export, and it does not 'correct' the tool. But Apple's side has moved, and the difference matters for submissions. Secondary summaries of Apple's App Store Connect screenshot specification (checked 2 November 2026) report that each display class is now a slot accepting several exact sizes, that App Store Connect scales smaller sizes down from the largest set you supply, and that for most apps one iPhone set at 6.9-inch (plus a 13-inch iPad set if the app runs on iPad) is enough. On that reading, the tool's 5.5-inch 1242 x 2208 slot is a legacy size that no longer appears in current required lists — it is still listed here because the tool still offers it, not because a new submission needs it.

Practical consequence: if you are submitting today, ship the free 6.9-inch set first (1320 x 2868) and add the iPad 13-inch set only if your app runs on iPad. Do not buy or wait for the 5.5-inch size for a new submission unless App Store Connect itself asks for it. And because Apple changes these specs with new devices, confirm the current list in App Store Connect before you submit — this page is a drafting record of the tool's sizes, not Apple's documentation.

What it can't do

Frequently asked questions

Which App Store screenshot size is free?

The 6.9-inch size (1320 x 2868 pixels) is free with unlimited exports on the Clioos tool, no account needed. The tool page states a fair-use cap of 100 exports per IP per day.

What sizes does the tool support?

Four sizes: 6.9-inch 1320 x 2868 (free), 6.5-inch 1284 x 2778, 5.5-inch 1242 x 2208, and iPad 13-inch 2064 x 2752. The three non-free sizes are locked during the probe and open with the paid pack.

Can I upload the exported PNG to App Store Connect?

The tool page says yes: exports are PNG files at the exact pixel dimensions App Store Connect accepts for each size, in RGB with no transparency. Exact pixels are necessary but not sufficient — Apple also judges content, and you should confirm the current spec in App Store Connect before submitting.

Do I need an account to export?

No. Upload a screenshot, pick a template, edit the text, and export. The only thing that asks for an email is the waitlist for paid size packs.

When will the paid size packs be available, and what do they cost?

Not on sale yet, and no price is listed on the tool page. Leave your email in the waitlist form and you will be notified when they launch. No payment is taken now.

Do I still need the 5.5-inch size for a new app?

Probably not. Secondary summaries of Apple's current spec report that App Store Connect scales down from the largest set, so a 6.9-inch set (plus a 13-inch iPad set for iPad apps) covers a new submission. The tool still offers 5.5-inch 1242 x 2208 as a locked size, but do not wait for it unless App Store Connect asks for it.
