What Is Qoduck

By Clioos Team

Qoduck is an anonymous ("stealth") AI coding model that appeared inside Qoder, Alibaba's agentic coding platform, on November 7, 2026. Qoder has not disclosed which model it actually is. Individual users of Qoder International can try it free every day for a limited time - it costs 0 credits within the daily free allowance. It only works inside Qoder; there is no standalone Qoduck app, website, or public API.

Steps

  1. Start from the announcement, not the rumours: Qoder's official account (@qoder_ai_ide) posted on November 7, 2026 that "a stealth model just landed on Qoder. Meet Qoduck." Qoder's own words are that it is "keeping its origins under wraps."
  2. Check whether the free offer covers you. It applies to individual users of Qoder International on Free, Pro Trial, Lite, Pro, Pro+ and Ultra plans. Team and Enterprise customers do not qualify, and the offer is for the desktop app.
  3. Install Qoder International from https://qoder.com/ and sign in. New users get a 14-day Pro trial with 300 credits; the free plan continues after that. Pro is $20 per month with 2,000 credits.
  4. Pick Qoduck in the model picker and use it on a small task first. Inside the daily free allowance it costs 0 credits and applies automatically - nothing to sign up for or claim. Beyond the allowance it bills at 0.5x the standard rate, and Qoder warns responses may be slow at peak times.
  5. Review any AI-written code before shipping it, whatever model wrote it. A Hirundo study published October 22, 2026 found Qwen3-Coder built hackable apps 70% of the time for a US defense contractor, versus 59% for a Chinese one. That study tested Qwen3-Coder, not Qoduck, but the habit applies to every model.

What we know so far

Qoduck appeared in Qoder's model picker on November 7, 2026, announced by the official Qoder account with the words "a stealth model just landed on Qoder" and "don't ask where it came from." The announcement post drew about 970,000 impressions, 558 likes and 226 reposts within hours, and the launch was covered the same day by Startup Fortune and other outlets.

The free terms are in Qoder's documentation, not just the teaser posts. Individual users of Qoder International - on Free, Pro Trial, Lite, Pro, Pro+ and Ultra plans - can use Qoduck without spending credits inside a daily allowance that resets each day. Beyond the allowance, Qoduck bills at 0.5x the standard rate. Team and Enterprise customers do not qualify, and the offer is for the desktop app. The end date is, in Qoder's words, "yet to be determined" and will be announced in advance, so treat this as a promotion, not a permanent price.

There is no standalone Qoduck product to download or sign up for. It is a model choice inside Qoder only, and Qoder has published no public API for it.

What we don't know yet

Which model Qoduck really is. The leading guess in the community is that it is Qwen 4 in disguise - Alibaba Cloud's CTO has said Qwen4 could arrive within the week - but neither Alibaba nor Qoder has confirmed a size, parameter count, or architecture, and no independent benchmark exists yet. A user-sourced report puts its context window at 1 million tokens; Qoder has not confirmed that either.

When the free window ends. Qoder says "for a limited time" and has given no date, only that the end will be announced in advance.

Whether it will ever get a public API. Today it is only a model choice inside Qoder, and Qoder has said nothing about API access.

Should you use it?

If you already use Qoder, trying Qoduck costs nothing inside the free allowance, so there is no reason not to test it on a small task. If you do not use Qoder, there is no reason to install it just for Qoduck - the model is unidentified and unbenchmarked, and the free window could close without notice.

Think of it as a free look at what may be a new Qwen coder model, not as a permanent tool. If Qoder names the model or publishes benchmarks, the picture changes; until then, the only honest claim is that it is free to try inside Qoder, for now.
