Astrology Dating Chart

By Clioos 团队

An astrology dating chart is not one thing. It is usually one of two different calculations: synastry, which compares two birth charts, or a composite chart, which averages them into a third chart. This overview explains both, shows where to run each for free, and states the limit plainly: neither predicts whether a relationship will work.

At a glance

Steps

  1. Start with two full birth charts. Without birth times, house positions and the moon are uncertain, and every calculator on this site says so rather than guessing.
  2. For comparison, use synastry: your pair page compares planet to planet across the two charts and produces a computed score from those aspects.
  3. For a different view, use the composite chart: it averages the two charts into one midpoint chart. It describes the relationship as its own entity; it does not give a compatibility score, and this guide does not invent one for it.

Synastry: two charts, compared

Synastry takes two birth charts and reads the aspects between them: one person's Sun against the other's Moon, Venus against Mars, and so on. SyncChart pair pages work this way. They also produce a score, because the comparison is made of countable aspects between real positions.

Example pair pages with real computed scores: Leo and Virgo, Virgo and Sagittarius, Leo and Sagittarius.

Composite: two charts, averaged into one

A composite chart averages two birth charts planet by planet, using midpoint positions, into a single chart that stands for the relationship itself. The free composite chart calculator shows those midpoint positions and aspects. It does not give a compatibility score: the five-dimension score used for synastry does not transfer to a composite chart, so this guide does not quote one.

Composite work is sometimes confused with the Davison relationship chart, which instead averages the birth times and places and then computes a chart for that midpoint moment. That is a different method, and it is not what the calculator above does.

What a sun sign alone can't tell you

A sun sign is one placement. It leaves out the moon sign (often linked with emotional habits), the rising sign (often linked with first impressions), Venus (often linked with affection), and every aspect between two charts. Two people with the same sun signs can have very different full charts, and different pair scores.

That is why sign-dating guides, including Dating a Virgo and Dating a Sagittarius, are written as entertainment: useful as conversation starters, useless as verdicts.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between synastry and composite?

Synastry compares two charts and reads aspects between them; it can produce a computed score. Composite averages two charts into one midpoint chart for the relationship itself; it does not produce a synastry-style score.

Can a dating chart predict a breakup?

No. Charts describe symbolic patterns. They do not predict events, and no responsible reading treats them as forecasts.

Do I need birth times?

For a full chart, yes: houses and the moon move fast enough that a missing time leaves real uncertainty. Calculators on this site say so instead of guessing.
